Simplify your life

I’ve always chuckled when someone would ask me if I had any new year resolutions. This year however- I got to thinking that I might like the idea of making a promise to myself. To work toward an improvement to better myself and my family. No one is perfect. So why not just give it a shot?!

OF COURSE I’d like to start the new year  off By simplifying my space. By getting rid of things I don’t use or need. Decor items that have been stowed away in the closet for a year and a half. Clothing I forget I even own and toys that my children have outgrown. The way I’ve been slowely achieving this is by selling some of my decor items on my local yard sale Facebook page. Donating things to goodwill and most definitely just throwing crud AWAY!

Mind you this is NO easy task and I’m still working everyday to become a more organized person. My closets are scarey. REALLLLL SCAREY. You wouldn’t know it by seeing my posts on Instagram. But I am by no means organized and do not have my “stuff together” all the time. 🤦🏼‍♀️ BUT it’s a process! And nothing can be done overnight- especially with toddlers. 🤔

Another way I’d like to simplify my life is by LETTING GO. To not be so darn hard on myself! I want to be able to say:

I want to do things my way.🤜🏼

Or to just say NO more often without feeling guilt as to what others will say about me if I choose to be selfish. 🤗

By letting go of feelings and things I hope to achieve a more simple life and if you’re anything like me- I hope you’ll join me! 🤝

One thing many don’t know about me is I have a thing called- Anxiety. I may seem bubbly and social. But that’s not always the case. I choose to stay where I feel most comfortable. Which is with my family and a few friends. I choose to keep to myself and prefer to not engage in anything socially. I’m not great with small talk aside from the clerk at the grocery store. The entire time I’ll be thinking, “don’t say something stupid. Did that sound stupid? I’m screwing this up. Oh shoot did they just ask me a question? I’m looking at their face but I have no idea what they just asked me!” 😂 ANNNNDDD on more than one occasion I have unintentionally given people the worst idea about who I am! I can come across rude when all I want to do is go home and hide because I’m so uncomfortable in conversations.

I can’t be the only person on earth like this? 🤔 right?!

I know I can’t change who I am. But by simplifying my life and simplifying all the feelings I hope I can live a more simple life everyday and that’s my hope for 2017!

If you’re anything like me… well… you’re not alone, you’re amazing, and doing everything you were meant to do my friends. Just keep on trucking and start your new year off right!

On a side note: I just want to thank you all for following me and my Instagram accoun & For your kind comments and support. This decor community has allowed me to relax, make wonderful friends who uplift one another, and to do what I enjoy doing- with no shame! ❤

  1. Thank you for sharing! It’s hard to admit that you have anxiety because a lot of people don’t understand it. I too suffer from anxiety (not too severe) but it does prevent me from doing certain things. I hope this year is great one for you and I think by talking about it helps. Happy new year Ashley. Much love, Kathy *lovefabdecor*

  2. You are not alone at all! I have extreme social anxiety as well. I also get to the point of coming across as angry or rude to people. I travel with headphones in my bag at all times to wear at the grocery store or anywhere else I know it will be busy. It helps to distract me as well as drown out everyone else 😉 I’m so glad to know you and feel even closer to you now after reading your post. We got this!! 2017 is going to be amazing!!
